📄 Access Report – “Voices for Democracy: Towards Equitable Civil Society Participation in Rural Areas”
📢 The Intermediaries Change Center for Sustainable Development in Ajloun, Jordan, has concluded the first phase of the project “Voices for Democracy: Towards Equitable Civil Society Participation in Rural Areas.”
This initiative was carried out in collaboration with Greater Ajloun Municipality, Al-Junaid Municipality, and the Governorate Council, with the goal of integrating youth into political life and decision-making to achieve participatory democratic governance.
The first phase included:
Training programs for young men and women on governance, civic engagement, and monitoring elected councils
Dialogue sessions between youth and municipal/governorate councils to promote inclusive decision-making
Strengthening youth understanding of local development policies, decentralization, and the role of civil society
This project is a bold step toward empowering rural youth and building a more democratic, inclusive future.
The first phase included training programs for young men and women from the governorate. The training content focused on concepts of governance, good governance, community participation, monitoring and evaluating the performance of elected councils, and the importance of enhancing the role of youth in political life and public affairs.
A series of dialogue sessions was also held between youth and the Greater Ajloun Municipality, Al-Junaid Municipality, and the Governorate Council. These sessions aimed to enhance youth participation in decision-making within the work of municipal councils, and to strengthen their understanding of public development policies, concepts of local governance and decentralization, and the intersection of civil society and youth with the Governorate Council and the Executive Council.
