“Change Mediators” participates in the coordination meeting on the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security
The Change Mediators Center for Sustainable Development participated on Sunday in a coordination meeting organized by the Ministry of Youth, in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), at the Ministry’s headquarters.
The meeting discussed ways to implement and localize United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 2250 on Youth, Peace, and Security, which stands as a landmark achievement initiated by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II during his presidency of a UN Security Council session in 2015.
During the meeting, Minister of Youth Dr. Raed Sami Al-Adwan emphasized the importance of unifying national efforts to implement the pillars of UNSCR 2250 and the National Agenda on Youth, Peace, and Security.
He pointed out that Jordan’s National Action Plan on Youth, Peace, and Security, which was approved last May, will be officially launched at the end of October.
Al-Adwan also noted that the Ministry will coordinate with national partner institutions to implement the plan’s pillars through national programs and activities aimed at enhancing youth participation in peacebuilding and decision-making, as well as empowering them in personal development, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills.
For their part, the participants presented key projects and programs that have been implemented within the framework of the resolution’s application, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts and the implementation of the National Plan in a way that meets performance indicators and enhances youth participation in adopting initiatives and projects that promote peace and security.
The Change Mediators Center was represented at the meeting by Riham Al-Qudah, Operations and Programs Specialist, who affirmed the Center’s commitment to supporting national efforts in implementing the Youth, Peace, and Security agenda, and to empowering young people to become active partners in building a more peaceful and sustainable society.
