🌍 In the heart of Sakib, Jerash Governorate, the Sakib Women’s Charitable Association continues to serve as an effective model for empowering women and marginalized groups, while promoting sustainable development in one of Jordan’s designated poverty pockets.
Its partnership with the Change Makers Center for Sustainable Development marked a pivotal milestone in its journey toward institutional transformation. This collaboration took place within the framework of the project “Rural Women More Resilient in Poverty Pockets – Jerash,” implemented by the Center with support from Expertise France and funding from the European Union.
🏛️ Change Makers Center: A Strategic Role in Institutional Empowerment
🌟 The Change Makers Center for Sustainable Development played a strategic role in empowering the association both technically and institutionally, by designing and implementing a comprehensive package of interventions between 2022 and 2023, which included:
💰 Financial support in the form of “agricultural tools” enabled the association to develop and implement its activities efficiently.
👩💼 Appointing a Field Coordinator for 10 Months Within the Association’s Structure to Enhance Program Implementation Efficiency and Ensure Effective Field Monitoring
🧭 Specialized Administrative and Technical Guidance in Institutional Capacity Building and Updating Internal Policies and Procedures
🛠️ Integrating Social Protection Concepts and Labor Market Readiness into the Association’s Work Methodology
📊 This support helped the association enhance the efficiency of its internal operations and adopt modern practices in governance and financial management, which strengthened its readiness to expand its impact.
🧩 Empowering Vulnerable Groups: A Practical Model for Community-Based Intervention
🌱 Based on the participatory approach adopted by the Change Makers Center, the association implemented training programs targeting 80 participants—young women and persons with disabilities—focused on practical and technical topics related to the green labor market and sustainable skills.
🌿 Sustainable Agriculture: Training in Hydroponic Techniques and Home-Based Organic Farming Using Local Resources
- 🌿 Green Entrepreneurship: Empowering Participants to Develop Eco-Friendly Business Ideas, with Training on the Business Model Canvas
- 🔧 Mobile Phone Maintenance: Hands-On Technical Training in Diagnostic and Repair Skills for Smart Devices, as a Pathway to Self-Employment and a Real Opportunity to Enter the Job Market
🌟 These programs contributed to enhancing participants’ technical and life skills, connecting them to new opportunities for economic integration, with a focus on independence and the empowerment of marginalized groups.
📣 Enhancing Participation and Advocacy: The Community’s Voice in Local Policies
📣 Thanks to the capacity-building support in community dialogue and advocacy provided by the Change Makers Center, the association participated in a pioneering local campaign aimed at:

- 📌 Advocating for the Inclusion of Social Protection as a Priority in Jerash Governorate’s Local Development Plans

🌟 These activities contributed to strengthening the association’s role as a strong and active representative in local development work, and helped expand its political and social influence.
