🌟 Salma Tawfiq Al-Rabadi – A Feminist Icon from the Countryside to the Halls of Decision-Making

At the age of 77, Salma Tawfiq Al-Rabadi continues to carry the torch of the struggle for equality and social justice. Her voice and deeply rooted experiences reflect the image of a rural woman leader who has never ceased working for change.

As an educator, former member of Parliament, and President of the Rural Women’s Forum – Equal Movement, Salma has played a pivotal role in empowering rural women and supporting their active participation in society. More than a leader, she has been a true platform for rural women’s issues—a bold voice confronting marginalization and all forms of violence. As a leading figure, she helped launch the Equal Movement, a feminist platform championing equality and justice for rural women.

🔎 Pioneering in Gender-Based Violence Advocacy

Through national and local dialogue sessions, Salma—alongside members of the Rural Women’s Forum—worked to establish real communication channels with parliamentarians, government officials, elected councils, and tribal leaders. These sessions focused on addressing gender-based violence, political and economic violence, and the daily challenges faced by rural women. She worked tirelessly to break the silence around these issues and place them at the heart of policy conversations impacting rural areas.

🏛️ Strategic Impact of the Rural Women’s Forum – Equal Movement

Salma is one of the founding members of the Rural Women’s Forum – Equal Movement, established by the Change Agents Center for Sustainable Development in collaboration with the Rural Ambassadors and Sawt Ajloun Radio. The forum became a powerful platform enabling rural women to present their issues and demands directly to decision-makers.

Its mission is to elevate rural women’s priorities on the national policy agenda and increase awareness among officials across sectors. Salma consistently worked to secure equal representation and meaningful participation for women in political and economic life.

💫 A Legacy of Inspiration and Enduring Impact

Today, Salma Tawfiq Al-Rabadi stands as a rare model of the resilient rural woman—her leadership of a feminist movement makes her a vital reference point in the struggle for gender equity and empowerment in rural communities.

Through the Equal Movement and strategic partnerships with the Change Agents Center and Rural Ambassadors, Salma has built a wide-reaching support network for rural women. Her accomplishments are not limited to local advocacy—they’ve reached national institutions and civil society organizations as well.

Despite her age, Salma continues to work with the same determination and energy that marked the beginning of her journey. She is living proof that change isn’t defined by age, but by unwavering belief in justice and commitment to equality.

📣 Final Message: Real Change Begins in the Countryside

Through the Rural Women’s Forum, Salma placed rural women at the heart of decision-making processes. Her story is a living message of the power of female leadership and its ability to create change in the toughest conditions.

Her legacy reminds us all that equality and justice aren’t just slogans—they are vital struggles for the lives of all women, everywhere.
