🌿 Green Thought: Nasreen… From a Radio Voice to a Leader in Environmental Awareness and Climate Justice in Ajloun
🌿 Amid the breathtaking nature of Ajloun Governorate, where forests harmonize with the breath of rural Jordan, the voice of Nasreen—an engineer and environmental activist—emerged to lead a unique environmental awareness movement through Sawt Ajloun Community Radio.
Her voice was no coincidence; it was the result of a journey of empowerment, learning, and strategic support provided by the Change Makers Center for Sustainable Development, the main partner in launching her media and community path.
🌿 Through her radio program “Green Thought,” Nasreen created an open dialogue space on sustainability and environmental awareness, targeting local communities—especially in rural areas. Her vision connects daily behavioral change with global climate justice.
The program is distinguished by its people-centered approach and content rooted in practical education and realistic solutions in areas such as responsible consumption, natural resource conservation, and climate change.
🌍 Nasreen didn’t stop at the airwaves—she took part, through the center and the radio station, in an intensive learning program in the United States, which helped shape her identity as an environmental and leadership activist.
This experience deepened her understanding of environmental protection, climate change, and sustainability, especially within the local community context. It marked a turning point in her journey, later reflected in her fieldwork and giving her a global dimension to her developmental vision.
🌿 As a result of this experience, Nasreen led the implementation of the “Green Women’s Café” project—a sustainable development initiative launched through the Change Makers Center, with support from the U.S. Embassy in Amman and IREX.
This project provides a safe space for learning and environmental exchange for women in rural communities, and promotes their economic and environmental empowerment through sustainability skills and green innovation.
🌿 Nasreen also led several community and development projects launched by the center as part of its strategy to promote environmental governance, green practices, and community participation in nature conservation.
She stood out for her ability to inspire grassroots change and influence environmental behavior at the individual, family, and community levels.
🌍 Today, Nasreen stands as a pioneering model of an environmental media professional and climate activist—one who doesn’t merely transmit knowledge, but plants it in the soil and guides people toward a more balanced and just future.
Her story highlights how a young woman from a rural area can, through support, training, and global experience, transform into a green force leading local change and connected to a universal vision of climate justice and sustainability.
🌿 “Green Thought” is not just a radio program—it’s a platform for environmental awareness and inspiration
