From the rural area of Al-Junaid in Ajloun Governorate, Jumana Omar Mustafa Al-Momani stands out as a strategic role model for women leaders. She has transformed administrative and field work into a comprehensive development path that enhances transparency, community participation, and the empowerment of rural women. For over 21 years of continuous service, Jumana has been a distinctive figure in municipal work, thanks to her active presence and her ability to develop and innovate from within the institution.
Jumana began her career at the main office before moving to the treasury, accounting, and checks department, where she gained extensive experience in financial management. Over time, she took over the management of the computer department, contributing to the development of administrative and technical systems within the municipality, which enhanced efficiency and improved the quality of services provided to citizens. Her professional excellence led to her being appointed as the administrative director and advisor to the mayor on administrative affairs, in addition to her role as secretary to the municipal council, which gave her a deep understanding of decision-making mechanisms and local governance.
Her appointment as head of the Women’s Empowerment Unit in Al-Junaid Municipality marked a strategic turning point in her career. She worked to expand the role of women in the local community through training and development initiatives, and partnerships with local and international organizations. Jumana implemented programs to build the capacities of rural women and worked to enhance their participation in public affairs and the local economy, emphasizing that developing women’s skills is a cornerstone of achieving comprehensive development.
Her developmental journey was further strengthened through her role as liaison officer between Al-Junaid Municipality and Intermediaries of Change Center for Sustainable Development She oversaw the implementation of a range of high-quality activities focused on transparency, accountability, and community engagement in decision-making. Among the most prominent initiatives she spearheaded was the live streaming of municipal council sessions and town hall meetings via social media platforms. This allowed citizens to follow municipal proceedings, interact with decisions, and solidify a culture of accountability and community participation.
Jumana worked diligently to implement good governance practices within the municipality by improving communication channels with the community and strengthening the role of various administrative units in responding to citizens’ needs. She also participated in workshops and conferences on women’s leadership and gender equality, serving as a voice for rural women on national platforms and conveying their needs and aspirations to relevant authorities.
