Kawkab Najadat: A rural woman who made a difference through giving and determination
From the town of Halawa in the Ajloun Governorate, Kawakib Saeed Abdo Anjadat stands out as a pioneering woman who has successfully combined education and community work to build a far-reaching development path serving women and families in rural areas. Born in 1962, she began her educational journey by obtaining a diploma in early childhood education in 1985, taking her first steps in the education sector, which formed the foundation for her subsequent leadership career.
For twenty years as a teacher and kindergarten owner, Kawkab contributed to raising new generations, instilling in children the values of knowledge and belonging, believing that building human beings is the cornerstone of any sustainable development. This educational conviction was the gateway that led her to social work and the empowerment of women in her community.
Kawkab continued her developmental role by leading the Halawa Women’s Charitable Society, where she focused on empowering women economically and socially through training and skills development. As her vision expanded, in 2015 she founded the Hayatuna Ajmal Cultural Society and the Sama Ajloun Tourism Society, combining culture, tourism, and development in initiatives aimed at creating job opportunities and strengthening local identity and the economy.
Her influence extended to the national level through her membership in the Jordanian Women’s Committees Coalition, the Jordanian Women Farmers Union, and the Jordanian Women’s Union, in addition to her political participation through the National Coalition Party, which strengthened her presence in advocacy issues and the representation of rural women.
In the field of community protection, Kawkab collaborated with the Jordanian Women’s Solidarity Institute in implementing a series of awareness workshops on violence against women, and working to follow up on cases of violence within the association in cooperation with specialists, which contributed to building an effective support network within the local community.
As part of agricultural economic empowerment, partnerships with the Ajloun Agriculture Directorate led to the establishment of two field schools specializing in the production of dairy products, cheeses, and thyme, in which 30 women participated, helping to transform their domestic skills into income-generating production projects and enhancing the economic security of families.
She also had an influential role in municipal work through her previous membership in the Al-Shafa Municipal Council for the Halawa area, where she focused on improving services and promoting community participation, believing that the voice of women is an essential part of the planning and development process.
The role of Intermediaries of Change Center for Sustainable Development in enhancing her leadership journey
The collaboration with Intermediaries of Change Center for Sustainable Development marked a significant milestone in Kawkab Injadat’s journey, as she participated in several learning and capacity-building programs implemented by the center. These programs helped her develop her leadership skills and refine her tools in community dialogue, civic engagement, and managing development initiatives.
Today, after more than three decades of dedicated work and service, Kawkab Saeed Anjadat is a symbol of rural women’s leadership, combining education, development, and advocacy. She believes that a strong woman is one who cultivates hope in her village and builds a better future with her knowledge, abilities, and passion, proving that rural women are capable of being genuine partners in creating change and local development.
