“Umm Al-Luloo Women’s Association: From Empowerment to Leadership in Environmental Sustainability”
“Since its establishment in 2008, the Umm Al-Luloo Women’s Cooperative Association has proven to be more than just a women’s organization—it has become a true platform for community transformation and sustainable development. The association actively works in the fields of women’s empowerment, local community training, entrepreneurship, awareness-raising, and networking. It has left a lasting mark through a distinguished handicrafts workshop and economic opportunities for women in the area.”
“🔑 The Major Turning Point: The ‘Training for Change’ Project”
“But the decisive turning point in the association’s journey was its participation in the ‘Training for Change’ project, implemented by the Intermediaries for Change Center for Sustainable Development, in collaboration with the WANA Institute and with support from the European Union. This partnership served as a strategic training opportunity, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills needed to improve their quality of life and expand the horizons of community empowerment—especially in the field of environmental sustainability.”
“💡 Financial Support to Achieve Milestones”
“Following the specialized training the association received through the project, it obtained financial support that enabled it to implement a series of initiatives that achieved tangible results on the ground. This financial support provided the association with the necessary resources to carry out various activities that contribute to environmental sustainability and improving the quality of life in the region.”
“🛠️ Tangible Achievements Within the Project”
“Thanks to this collaboration and financial support, the association succeeded in implementing numerous initiatives that had a direct impact on the local community. These initiatives contributed to sustainably improving the living conditions of farmers and citizens. Among the most notable achievements are:”
“Installation of 6 greywater purification units in farmers’ homes, provided as a free grant to each farmer valued at 3,000 dinars. These units helped improve water use efficiency and recycle it in innovative and sustainable ways.”
“Maintenance of water networks in 6 homes at a cost of 150 dinars per home, ensuring the sustainability of water services and improving the quality of life for the beneficiary families.”
“Conducting 20 awareness sessions on water management and modern environmental technologies, which contributed to raising local community awareness about the importance of preserving natural resources.”
“Distribution of 600 free water-saving devices, which were used in households to practically and directly improve water consumption.”
“🌍 Sustainable Impact: Long-Term Effect on the Community”
“Today, these units and services continue to serve farmers in their homes, reflecting the project’s deep and long-term impact in achieving environmental sustainability. These initiatives have contributed to improving farmers’ productivity, providing sustainable environmental solutions, and enhancing environmental awareness in rural communities.”
“💬 A New Female Voice: We Are Part of the Solution”
“Soumaya Al-Momani, one of the association’s participants, said: ‘We never imagined that training could open doors to such impactful opportunities. We have become part of the solution, not just recipients of support.’ This statement reflects the true spirit of empowerment fostered by the ‘Training for Change’ project, through which the women of the Umm Al-Luloo Women’s Association became more capable of keeping pace with societal changes and playing a leading role in achieving environmental sustainability.”
“💡 Successful Partnerships Make a Difference”
“The story of the Umm Al-Luloo Women’s Association and the Intermediaries for Change Center for Sustainable Development represents a successful model of community work rooted in social solidarity and environmental leadership. This story highlights how the right partnerships and high-quality training can create real change in people’s lives—especially when civil society collaborates with international entities to implement strategic projects aimed at achieving sustainable development.”
