📊 Survey Results: Measuring Citizens’ Satisfaction with Services Provided by Al-Junaid Municipality

📊 This survey was conducted to measure citizens’ satisfaction with the services provided by Al-Junaid Municipality, aiming to assess the current state of municipal services from the citizens’ perspective and to identify priorities for improvement and development based on the needs and demands of the local community.

It was carried out as part of the “Voices for Democracy” project, implemented by the Change Makers Center for Sustainable Development, in partnership with Al-Junaid Municipality and with support from the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation.

📊 Methodology and Number of Participants

A total of 1,207 participants from various areas within the jurisdiction of Al-Junaid Municipality took part in the survey. The sample included diverse age groups and representatives of both genders.

Data was collected through a direct questionnaire that included a set of closed-ended questions designed to measure the level of satisfaction across several service and administrative areas.

📊 Overall Satisfaction with Municipal Services

📊 The results showed that overall citizen satisfaction with municipal services was mixed. While some residents expressed moderate levels of satisfaction, others voiced dissatisfaction with the quality of essential services such as public cleanliness, infrastructure, and street lighting.

These indicators point to a gap between citizens’ expectations and the actual quality of services provided by the municipality.

🌿 Public Cleanliness and Environmental Services

The survey results revealed recurring concerns regarding waste collection, container distribution, and neighborhood cleanliness. Many participants expressed a clear need to see improvements in waste management and environmental services.

Citizens also pointed out that the accumulation of waste in certain areas negatively affects public health and the aesthetic appearance of the surroundings

🛣️ Road and Maintenance Services

🛣️ Regarding general street and infrastructure maintenance, participants highlighted a lack of proper maintenance for potholes and roads, especially in secondary areas and villages.

There were repeated demands for:

  • Improving the paving of internal roads
  • Repairing sidewalks
  • Providing adequate street lighting

These concerns reflect the high priority citizens place on this issue within their broader service-related demands.

🏞️ Public Facilities and Green Spaces

🌳 Citizens expressed low satisfaction with the availability of public parks and recreational facilities, with many pointing to the scarcity of green spaces and their poor maintenance.

There was a clear call for the establishment of community facilities dedicated to children and families, reflecting a pressing need for inclusive and accessible public spaces.

🏛️ Municipal Engagement with the Local Community

📢 The survey indicated a relative weakness in the municipality’s communication with citizens, whether through direct meetings or digital platforms.

It was also observed that a portion of citizens feel their complaints do not receive adequate responses, or that the communication channels used are not sufficiently effective.

🧭 Empowerment, Accountability, and Transparency

📊 When evaluating aspects of transparency—such as budget disclosure, planning, and governance principles—it was observed that citizens have limited awareness of these areas or face challenges in accessing related information.

This highlights the need to:

  • Improve institutional communication mechanisms
  • Raise public awareness about municipal plans and budgets
  • Ensure citizen participation in local decision-making processes

📌 Conclusion and Recommendations

The survey results reflect the presence of numerous service-related and organizational challenges that require direct and prompt intervention by Al-Junaid Municipality. Based on the findings, the following key recommendations can be made:

🧹 Improving and Expanding Public Cleanliness Services and Providing New Waste Containers

Launching a Plan for the Maintenance of Internal and Secondary Roads and Improving Street Lighting

🌿 Establishing Parks and Community Facilities in Areas Lacking Public Spaces

📢 Enhancing Communication with the Local Community through Regular Meetings and Interactive Platforms

📄 Promoting the Principles of Transparency and Accountability through Clear and Accessible Publication of Budgets and Annual Plans
