Voluntary Action Plan for Social Protection and Advancing Economic Development – Ajloun (2023–2026) 📊
In light of the social and economic challenges facing local communities—and in alignment with national efforts to promote social justice and expand social protection—this Voluntary Executive Plan for Ajloun Governorate (2023–2026) emerges as a comprehensive initiative aimed at improving the living and economic conditions of the most vulnerable groups. It seeks to achieve sustainable economic development through the integration of efforts among the public sector, civil society, and the private sector.
This plan focuses on strengthening local social protection systems by empowering marginalized individuals and families—particularly women, youth, and persons with disabilities—to access resources and economic opportunities. It also aims to create a supportive environment that fosters community participation and local innovation. Moreover, the plan reflects the governorate’s commitment to implementing the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and aligning its priorities with the National Social Protection Strategy, the Economic Empowerment Plan, and the Local Development Plan for Ajloun Governorate.
This plan was developed through an extensive participatory process that included a series of workshops and community consultations with representatives of the local community, elected bodies, women and youth, and civil society organizations. This approach enabled the identification of actual priorities, the proposal of appropriate solutions, and the strengthening of local ownership of the development process. The plan focused on several key pillars, most notably:
- Improving access to decent employment opportunities and economic empowerment for youth and women in rural areas.
- Expanding the social protection umbrella and strengthening the resilience of vulnerable groups.
- Developing social and economic infrastructure in a way that contributes to improving the quality of basic services.
- Strengthening partnerships between the local community, government institutions, and the private sector.
- Enhancing mechanisms for monitoring, evaluation, and community accountability to ensure transparency and sustainability.
This plan represents a voluntary commitment by Ajloun Governorate and its local institutions to strive toward a more just and inclusive society, grounded in the principle of “leaving no one behind,” and actively contributing to building a more prosperous and dignified future for all citizens.
