Voluntary Executive Plan for Social Protection and Advancing Economic Development – Ajloun (2018–2022) 📊
This voluntary executive plan serves as a strategic roadmap aimed at strengthening social protection systems and stimulating local economic growth in Ajloun Governorate. It is grounded in an integrated vision based on the principles of social justice, economic empowerment, and a participatory approach with the local community. The plan comes in response to the growing needs of the most marginalized groups—particularly women, youth, persons with disabilities, and residents of poverty pockets—and seeks to enhance the resilience of rural communities in the face of economic and social challenges.
The plan focuses on establishing a cohesive social protection framework by supporting economic empowerment initiatives, providing safeguards for vulnerable groups, and improving access to essential services, including education, healthcare, vocational training, and decent work. It also aims to promote social entrepreneurship, develop workforce skills, and encourage small and medium-sized enterprises in priority sectors such as eco-tourism, sustainable agriculture, and traditional industries.
This plan was developed in partnership with local stakeholders and civil society organizations, and in coordination with government entities. It is based on field data and comprehensive consultations that ensured the inclusion of community voices in setting priorities. Clear monitoring and evaluation indicators were adopted to measure progress, enhance transparency, and ensure accountability.
The plan represents a national model that can be replicated in other governorates, as it seeks to integrate the dimensions of social protection and economic development within a sustainable vision that places people at the heart of the development process and supports the Sustainable Development Goals and Jordan’s 2025 Agenda.
