Ajloun Voice Radio is a community radio station that aims to foster public dialogue through social media and community media to address the social, economic, political, cultural, and environmental challenges faced by youth, women, and marginalized groups and areas in the governorate. It seeks to raise awareness about human rights, sustainable development goals, and community participation in achieving them. The station also promotes the concepts of dialogue, youth participation in public affairs, decision-making mechanisms, governance, and accountability, and opens channels of communication between citizens and decision-makers. Radio Vision An independent community media institution characterized by transparency, credibility, and inclusivity, with a positive social impact that is reflected across all aspects of development work in Ajloun Governorate specifically and across all governorates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in general. Mission To contribute to increasing radio coverage of community realities in Ajloun Governorate, train media students and activists, and create sustainable communication that involves all community segments and decision-makers. Our Story Ajloun Voice Radio is the first community radio station in Ajloun Governorate. It was established at a time when there was an urgent need to shed media light on the overall situation in the governorate, where women and youth suffer from limited program implementation, poor road and transportation networks, inadequate education, social, and health services, weak tourism services and marketing, widespread poverty and unemployment, and fragile infrastructure. According to the government’s 2018 report, poverty reached 25.5% and female unemployment stood at 38%. These issues stem from legal and procedural gaps that discriminate against youth and women in accessing support for investment, entrepreneurship, and access to spaces for agricultural and tourism projects that could help integrate them into the workforce. Moreover, there was no available communication channel or community radio that could create dialogue with rural communities and decision-makers to place the priorities of marginalized groups on the local development agenda. There was a lack of institutions providing job opportunities in media for young graduates or students of journalism, media, and digital production, as well as no opportunities for practical training. This forced students and their families to bear high transportation and training costs to access internships in radio stations located in Amman or other governorates. In many cases, students were deprived of training opportunities due to financial constraints, preventing them from graduating or leading them into debt, further hindering their access to job opportunities. In response, the idea of founding Ajloun Voice Radio was born. It adopted the slogan “Voices for Rural Development \u2013 The Voice of the Countryside” as a result of the passion and ideas of a group of young people who recognized the importance of a community radio station capable of conveying their voices and those of all segments of rural society. The station is committed to supporting all development aspects in Ajloun, such as improving public services, attracting investments, and addressing critical issues like the Ajloun cable car project. It aims to be a community radio station with a social impact, tackling developmental challenges faced by youth, women, persons with disabilities, and low-income groups in rural and impoverished areas. It seeks to create sustainable social dialogue with decision-makers to improve public services such as roads, transportation, education, social and health services, and address unemployment, poverty, and infrastructure weaknesses. The radio station works to open communication channels between the community and decision-makers to amplify rural voices and enhance opportunities for them to report challenges, raise priorities, and participate in accountability processes at all levels. This contributes to leading change and improving their lives and livelihoods. Additionally, the station provides a media platform that promotes funded, environmental, and tourism projects, encourages investment and economic development in the governorate, and supports efforts on all community development fronts. Thus, the radio station addresses social, cultural, and economic issues, as well as all aspects of community development connected to the Sustainable Development Goals and human rights, while highlighting efforts and achievements related to the situation in Ajloun Governorate. Ajloun Voice Radio began playing this role in 2019, operating with limited resources and capacities. It has since worked to integrate gender and vulnerable group priorities into the local development plan and project budgets. The station aims to shift from slow responses to swift interventions, resulting in tangible outcomes that positively impact women and youth in rural areas. The station has formed partnerships with the Greater Ajloun Municipality and Al-Junaid Municipality to open communication channels with citizens and address the weak services in rural areas and waste accumulation in tourist areas. With the municipalities’ approval, the station launched the radio program \u201cMy Municipality, How Are Things?\u201d (link) through live broadcasting of municipal council sessions on the Ajloun Voice Radio Facebook page. This enabled citizens to follow council sessions, ask questions, raise concerns, and understand decision-making processes, challenges, and accomplishments of the Greater Ajloun Municipality. These efforts aim to enhance citizen participation in decision-making and promote community roles in accountability and transparency regarding the type and quality of municipal services. The radio station continues to operate with passion and belief that it will be \u201cthe voice of the voiceless\u201d, contributing to driving positive change in rural communities<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
