“Conference for the Launch of Social and Development Services and Digital Expansion in Rural Communities – Ajloun.”
On behalf of the Minister of Government Communications and the Official Government Spokesperson, Dr. Mohammad Al-Momani, Dr. Zaid Al-Nawasihah, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Government Communications, inaugurated the Conference for the Launch of Social and Development Services and Digital and Media Expansion in Rural Communities. The conference was organized by the Center for Change Mediators for Sustainable Development, in partnership with Ajloun Voice Radio, and took place at Ajloun University College.
During his opening speech, Dr. Al-Nawasihah emphasized that these qualitative initiatives represent an effective model of community partnership. He pointed out that they provide rural areas with real opportunities for empowerment and capacity building, reflecting the ministry’s vision to support community media and enhance media pluralism. He added that the Center for Change Mediators and Ajloun Voice Radio play an important role in linking media with development, making these initiatives a true investment in human capital.
Al-Nawasihah called for strengthening cooperation between government institutions, civil society, and the private sector, emphasizing that sustainable development can only be achieved through joint and field-based efforts, rather than solely through centralized decisions.
Nadia Al-Rabadi, General Director of the Center for Change Mediators, affirmed that the conference represents an important milestone in the path toward empowering rural communities. She pointed out that true development starts with people and providing them with the necessary tools to build their future. She emphasized that the center seeks to expand access to social services and enhance digital media presence in underserved areas.
Dr. Waddah Al-Rabadi, Dean of Ajloun University College, expressed his pride in the partnership between the college and civil society institutions. He affirmed that the college believes in its role as a key driver in achieving national visions and seeks to launch training and qualification initiatives aimed at empowering youth, women, and persons with disabilities, in alignment with royal directives.
In the same context, Mohammad Al-Qudah, Chairman of the West Irbid Municipal Committee, highlighted that the programs launched by the Center for Change Mediators, especially the fellowship and training programs, reflect the importance of investing in youth energies and enhancing their role in community media and driving change.
During the conference, the Center’s new website was launched — a qualitative step aligned with the strategic plan of the Center for Change Mediators and a clear response to the community’s need for an interactive digital platform that facilitates access to available information and services. The website offers individuals and institutions the opportunity for direct engagement, program registration, and access to support and consultations. This contributes to greater transparency and deepens the impact of community work across various regions, especially those that are less privileged. This digital expansion reaffirms the Center’s commitment to providing equal opportunities for all and promoting equitable access to tools for sustainable development.
The conference also witnessed the launch of a comprehensive package of social and developmental services, along with sustainable community spaces offered by the Center for Change Mediators for Sustainable Development in partnership with Ajloun Voice Community Radio. This initiative aligns with the Center’s efforts to expand its scope of work and provide meaningful support tools for target groups in rural communities. During the conference, these services and spaces were presented, along with the opportunities they offer — targeting youth, civil society organizations, and local initiatives — with the aim of building their capacities and creating an enabling environment for active community participation.
As part of the conference activities, a group of young men and women participating in the “Rural Space” program presented specialized policy papers addressing the education and labor sectors in Ajloun Governorate. These papers were based on in-depth analysis of the local context and the needs of the targeted groups and concluded with a set of practical recommendations directed at relevant ministries and institutions, aimed at improving policies and the quality of services provided. The policy papers reflected the youth’s ability to understand community challenges and propose realistic solutions rooted in their lived experiences and daily engagement with the issues affecting their region.
The presentations were followed by an open, interactive dialogue session with His Excellency the Minister of Government Communications, focusing on the role of community media as a tool for supporting and advocating for the proposed recommendations and policies. The discussion addressed mechanisms for enhancing youth participation in the development decision-making process through media, as well as ways to highlight local issues and bring them to the attention of national policymakers. This session helped create a genuine space for dialogue between youth and decision-makers, reinforcing the concept of media as a means of positive influence and expanding civic participation. It also contributed to increasing the chances of adopting more inclusive and equitable development solutions that emerge from the community and serve its aspirations.
At the conclusion of the conference, His Excellency the Minister of Government Communications—represented by Secretary-General Dr. Zaid Al-Nawasihah—was honored in recognition of his support and sponsorship of meaningful media and development initiatives. Ajloun University College was also recognized for hosting the conference and for its pioneering role in supporting educational and community partnerships in Ajloun Governorate. The ceremony further honored several program hosts and young media professionals who played a significant role in implementing community and media initiatives within the partnership between the Center for Change Mediators and Ajloun Voice Radio, in appreciation of their efforts to amplify the voices of local communities and actively contribute to the promotion of developmental media.
