Wisal Al-Momani… A journey of giving that knows no end
The story of Wisal Mohammed Saad Al-Momani stands out as a model woman who successfully combined community service with public work from a developmental and strategic perspective. Born in 1962, Wisal grew up in an environment that valued knowledge and hard work. She pursued her studies at Ajloun College, specializing in vocational education, and managed to pass the comprehensive exam despite her responsibilities as a wife and mother, proving that willpower overcomes all challenges.
Wissal’s ambitions didn’t stop at education and family life; they extended to public service and community work. She confidently entered the municipal arena, convinced of her ability to lead change in her region. She earned the trust of the residents for three consecutive terms, and during one of these terms, she assumed the presidency of the local council for the Abein/Ablin area, becoming a model of female leadership characterized by wisdom, composure, and planning grounded in the needs of the community.
During her time on the council, Wissal worked to improve services and enhance development efforts, focusing on the role of women and youth in revitalizing local development. Her involvement in the Rural Women’s Forum was a significant turning point, as it provided her with a platform to network and exchange experiences with leading women from various rural areas, giving her a broader perspective on participatory development.
Her collaboration with Intermediaries of Change Center for Sustainable Development also had a significant impact on developing her leadership skills. Wissal participated in a series of capacity-building programs implemented by the center in cooperation with the forum, specifically advocacy programs, community dialogue, and policy paper preparation. This enabled her to gain a deeper understanding of the mechanisms for influencing local policies, communicate effectively with municipal councils, and manage community issues in a strategic way that promotes the principles of participation and transparency.
Through these programs, Wisal developed practical tools for analyzing local problems and formulating applicable development recommendations and policies. She also acquired advanced skills in engaging with decision-makers, building community alliances, and involving women and youth in decision-making processes. This was clearly reflected in her performance within the local council, where she was able to transform numerous challenges into practical initiatives that served the region and contributed to improving the quality of life.
Wisal Al-Momani is not just a municipal council member or a local council head; she is a woman with a clear developmental mission. Thanks to her integrity, humility, and belief that leadership is a moral responsibility before it is an official position, she has established an influential role in her community. Today, she is preparing for her fourth term with renewed ambition, drawing on extensive experience, advanced training programs, and a broad network of community relationships that have strengthened her role and enriched her career.
Wisal says: “Public work is not a position, but a trust and a responsibility before God and people… and what remains is the impact.”
This is how Wisal Al-Momani emerges as a strategic success story in local development, a woman who was able to combine her role as a mother, community leader and political entrepreneur, believing that giving is the strongest path towards change, and that building capacities is the basis for empowering local communities and creating a better future.
