Cultural and Arts Creativity Space

This is one of the vibrant spaces at the Change Mediators Center for Sustainable Development, aimed at empowering youth, women, and emerging artists to express themselves through various art forms such as theater, music, painting, photography, and creative writing. The space functions as an open platform to nurture talents, develop skills, promote freedom of expression, and connect culture with community development.

The space implements diverse programs and events including art workshops, cultural evenings, exhibitions, and community festivals, alongside awareness-raising artistic performances and short films addressing social and environmental issues. It also provides a safe environment for dialogue and cultural exchange among different community groups, contributing to the preservation of local cultural heritage with a contemporary spirit.

This space has made a tangible impact in enhancing cultural and community participation, successfully showcasing young talents at both local and national levels. It has also helped integrate art as a tool for sustainable development and community peacebuilding through fruitful partnerships with cultural, educational, and media institutions inside and outside Ajloun Governorate.

Among the notable artistic activities organized by the Cultural and Arts Creativity Space at the Change Mediators Center are the musical concert of composer Tarek Al-Naser at Ajloun Castle on the occasion of the International Music Day, which was a unique artistic experience in the heart of one of the governorate’s most prominent historical landmarks. The space also organized a distinguished musical event titled “Voices Unite Us… Mediterranean Day – Third Edition”, celebrating “Mediterranean Day,” where artists and youth from diverse cultural backgrounds came together in a spirit of creative collaboration and cultural dialogue. These events embody the center’s vision of employing the arts as a bridge for encounter and dialogue, enhancing cultural identity and community belonging.

“My Municipality, How Are You?” is one of the prominent community media platforms adopted by Sawt Ajloun Radio in partnership with local municipalities, as part of efforts to strengthen communication between local authorities and the community. The program aims to create an open and transparent space for direct dialogue between citizens and municipal council members, reflecting the spirit of participatory democracy and reinforcing the principles of transparency and accountability.

The program is based on a clear vision to enhance community participation in local decision-making and to achieve an effective partnership between the municipality and citizens, consistent with modern approaches to local governance founded on transparency and openness. It seeks to build bridges of trust and effective communication between decision-makers and the public, turning the citizens’ voice into a powerful tool for evaluating and improving the quality of municipal services.

The program is broadcast regularly on Sawt Ajloun Community Radio, timed with municipal council meetings or within special dialogue episodes. These episodes host mayors, council members, as well as representatives of civil society and local activists. The discussions are conducted professionally, respecting diverse opinions and opening the door for direct popular participation.

Citizens are engaged through phone calls, social media, or in-person attendance at some sessions, enhancing interaction and giving the program an active community character.

Since its launch in 2019, the program has had a tangible impact in strengthening trust between citizens and municipal councils, raising awareness about the public’s monitoring and participatory roles. It has also contributed to improving the quality of some services based on recommendations made by participants and conveyed to municipalities through the program.

Thanks to this initiative, municipal council sessions have become more open and receptive to accountability and feedback, thereby helping to consolidate the culture of good governance at the local level.

Within a shared vision to empower youth and build their capacities in the fields of media and sustainable development, both the Change Mediators Center for Sustainable Development and Sawt Ajloun Community Radio have launched a series of fellowship and training programs targeting youth, community activists, and those interested in the media field. The aim is to enhance their active participation in their community issues and equip them with tools for influence and change.

These programs stem from the importance of investing in local youth energies and strengthening their roles in community media and social change-making. The core objectives of the programs focus on:

  • Empowering trainees with practical skills in radio media, community project planning, and local leadership.

  • Transferring the accumulated knowledge and experience gained by the center and the radio through years of community work.

  • Promoting values of active citizenship, participation, dialogue, transparency, and accountability.

  • Graduating qualified young cadres who can effectively contribute to the development of the local community and work in media and development institutions.

The fellowship and training programs offered by Sawt Ajloun Radio and the Change Mediators Center represent a vital model for building youth capacities in media and development, emphasizing the importance of investing in people as the first step toward a more aware, engaged, and just society.

Work continues on expanding and developing these programs to include a larger number of participants, opening doors for creativity and impact at both local and national levels.

“Tariqna” represents an interactive youth space aimed at empowering young men and women to discuss issues related to transportation, mobility, and urban development in Jordan. This space seeks to raise awareness of the daily challenges associated with infrastructure, public transportation, and traffic regulation, while also presenting innovative and sustainable solutions that reflect the visions and aspirations of youth for more just and well-organized cities.

Tariqna focuses on:

  • Building youth knowledge about public transportation policies.

  • Discussing challenges related to public transit and urban mobility.

  • Supporting community initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure.

  • Enhancing community participation in local decision-making related to mobility and development.

Sustainable Transportation and Mobility

Sustainable transportation is a fundamental pillar for achieving more inclusive and resilient cities. It helps promote equitable access to education, employment, and essential services, while reducing social and economic gaps. At the Center for Change Mediators for Sustainable Development, we work to empower youth to participate in developing innovative solutions for transportation and mobility challenges, especially in rural and marginalized areas. We do this through interactive initiatives that support the transition toward smart, environmentally friendly, and more equitable transportation systems. Additionally, we promote dialogue between decision-makers and local communities to ensure transportation policies are based on real needs and respect the environment.

Inclusive Urban Development

At the Center for Change Mediators for Sustainable Development, we believe that urban development goes beyond construction and urban expansion; it encompasses achieving social justice, ensuring environmental sustainability, and empowering local communities to lead change in their urban surroundings. From this perspective, we work to support participatory urban planning, enhance green infrastructure, and enable youth to use digital and data tools to design their neighborhoods in ways that ensure quality, safety, and equity. We also encourage urban and cultural revitalization projects that bring public spaces to life, creating cities that are more interactive and just.

Cultural Empowerment and Creative Development

Culture is not a luxury; it is a fundamental element of sustainable development and an effective tool to strengthen identity, belonging, and build cohesive communities. The Center for Change Mediators for Sustainable Development supports cultural and creative industries as a means for economic and social empowerment, especially for youth and women. We focus on enhancing the artistic and technical capacities of cultural practitioners and connecting them with the digital environment as well as local and regional markets to ensure the sustainability of their initiatives. We also believe in the importance of cultural dialogue as a bridge for mutual understanding among peoples and work to create interactive platforms and spaces that enable free expression and active community participation in shaping the local cultural scene.
