Youth and Isolation: How did the most connected generation become the most lonely?

The wider the windows of communication, the narrower the chambers of the soul; thus, the most connected generation becomes the most isolated generation.

We live today in a world where communication has never been easier; messages never cease, platforms connect us, and networks put others just a tap away. But the question remains: has this connectivity truly brought us closer, or have we become more isolated amidst all this digital presence?

As part of the “Rural Cinema Space” activities, Intermediaries of Change Center for Sustainable Development is organizing a screening of a documentary film that addresses the reality of youth in light of digital transformations, highlighting social isolation, the impact of social media and technology on our relationships, our sense of belonging, and the way we communicate with others and with ourselves.

The film opens up space to reflect on a paradox experienced by an entire generation: a generation that is present on screens all the time, but may be further from others and more lonely in their daily lives.

The presentation will be followed by an open discussion with young people about their experiences, questions, and vision of their relationship with the digital world, and whether technology is building bridges between us or creating new distances that we do not see.
