Young Leaders from the “Safe Rural Youth Political Space” Engage in Dialogue on Unemployment and Development Challenges with the Parliamentary Committee on Labor, Social Development, and Population in Ajloun

The Change Makers Center for Sustainable Development, in partnership with Sawt Ajloun Community Radio and in cooperation with the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation (Germany), organized a political dialogue between young leaders — members of the “Safe Rural Youth Political Space” — and the Parliamentary Committee on Labor, Social Development, and Population.

The session was attended by Members of Parliament Dr. Jamil Al-Dheisat and Shifa Al-Muqabla.

The political dialogue aims to empower rural youth to express their views and discuss a comprehensive policy paper prepared by the participants, following an in-depth assessment of unemployment and development opportunities in Ajloun Governorate. The paper presents practical, actionable recommendations to enhance employment opportunities and promote equitable development.

Project Coordinator Ahmad Abdulqader Al-Rababa pointed out that the political dialogue represents a unique experience in enhancing youth participation in shaping public policies and in opening direct channels of communication with decision-makers. He emphasized that such political dialogues are a practical step toward building trust and promoting participation, democracy, and sustainable development in rural areas.

Local development expert Suhaib Ahmad Rababah explained that the session serves as a vital platform for youth to express their needs and propose practical solutions. He emphasized that their participation in shaping local policies enhances opportunities for developmental equity and contributes to building a society capable of addressing unemployment challenges and achieving sustainable development.

He added that youth participation enables them to move beyond merely identifying problems to proposing actionable solutions, making their recommendations more grounded in reality and better suited to the actual needs of rural communities.

Public policy expert Mohammad Bani Mustafa praised the youth’s ideas and proposals during the dialogue, emphasizing that their participation represents a practical model of active and responsible contribution to decision-making. He highlighted that their involvement supports improving employment opportunities and developing developmental services in rural areas, contributing to achieving sustainable development goals and promoting social justice.

The MPs, Al-Dheisat and Al-Muqabla, affirmed that the recommendations and solutions presented by the youth reflect their awareness and understanding of the challenges. They emphasized the importance of establishing a unified investment window to reduce bureaucracy, improving infrastructure, and providing incentives that encourage both local and foreign investment.

They also affirmed the Committee on Labor’s commitment to adopting the recommendations, discussing them in upcoming meetings, and presenting them in the parliament during the next legislative session. The committee directed the youth to develop an executive summary of the policy paper and submit it to the committee to initiate deliberations on the solutions and recommendations, pledging to provide continuous updates to the youth.

The participants pointed out that the policy paper focused on four main pillars:

ChatGPT said: Fragility of infrastructure supporting development.

High unemployment rates.

Weak investment incentives and limited government support for projects.

ChatGPT said: The gap between educational outcomes and labor market needs.

Key Recommendations from the Youth:

Enhance investment incentives specifically for Ajloun Governorate within the Investment Law.

Amend the Local Administration Law to allocate development projects that align with the governorate’s comparative advantages.

Ready for the next recommen

Develop the tourism sector in alignment with Ajloun’s natural and human resources.

Improve the rural transportation system to enable residents to access education, training, and employment opportunities.

Direct vocational training institutes toward promising employment sectors.

Launch a local electronic platform supervised by the Labor Directorate to serve as an informational reference for projects and opportunities.

Issue a procedural guide for developmental and productive projects.

Increase practical training hours at universities to enhance graduates’ readiness for the labor market.
