The third training session was conducted on Tuesday, 9 September 2026, as part of the activities of the Field School for Modern and Sustainable Agricultural Technologies. The session addressed the use of salinity and pH meters and their importance in hydroponic farming systems, with the aim of enhancing participants’ practical knowledge and skills and enabling them to effectively use and handle modern technologies and tools employed in hydroponic agriculture.

The Field School is implemented by the Intermediaries of Change Center for Sustainable Development and Sawt Ajloun Community Radio, in cooperation with the Directorate of Agriculture of Ajloun Governorate. It aims to equip youth and participants with practical knowledge and skills in modern and sustainable agricultural technologies, while promoting their interest in smart agriculture and agricultural innovation.

The training covered the importance of measuring pH and salinity levels in the solutions used in hydroponic farming, and their role in providing a suitable environment for plant growth and improving plants’ ability to absorb nutrients. Participants were also introduced to the measuring devices used, how they work, and the proper methods for using them and accurately reading the results.

The session focused on the practical aspect by training participants on how to use salinity and pH meters and how to test the nutrient solution and monitor its levels. This helps identify any changes that may affect plant growth and take the appropriate measures to maintain optimal conditions for the crops.

The training also discussed the relationship between pH and salinity levels and the availability of nutrients to plants, as well as the importance of regularly monitoring measurements in hydroponic systems, as these are essential practices that contribute to improving production efficiency and maintaining plant health.

The practical component contributed to enhancing participants’ ability to use and handle measuring tools effectively, and to connect theoretical knowledge with direct application, thereby strengthening their skills in managing hydroponic systems and monitoring crop needs.

The training emphasized the importance of using modern measuring tools to advance agricultural practices, particularly in hydroponic systems that rely on precise control of plant growth conditions. This contributes to improving the efficiency of water and nutrient use and enhancing the quality of production.

The training aligns with the objectives of the Field School in promoting the concepts of smart and sustainable agriculture, enhancing knowledge of modern agricultural technologies, and empowering youth and participants to acquire practical skills that can be utilized in developing more efficient and sustainable agricultural projects and ideas.

This session is part of a series of practical training sessions delivered by the Field School, aimed at strengthening the connection between knowledge and practical application, and encouraging participants to leverage technology and modern tools to address agricultural challenges and improve resource-use efficiency.
